Do I need a list or inventory?
It is important to prepare an inventory. Reputable carriers insist on a list of items being transported. This may be given over the phone (keep a copy for your own file) or in writing, faxed, e-mailed or click the Quotes button in the left hand menu to send in an online form. This not only allows us to correctly assess the volume of furniture, it also gives our staff information on the furniture and effects at the time of pickup.

Why do I need a quotation in writing?
This will protect your interest and assets. We operate under strict guidelines in accordance with the Code of Conduct of Australian Furniture Removals Association. Unless other arrangements come to bear, the price quoted is fixed.

Should I pack, or have my personal effects packed for me?
The largest percentages of damages caused during a removal is due to incorrectly packed or inadequate strength cartons used. Central Victoria Removals, as a professional removal company, recommend our staff attend to your packing. This alleviates a lot of headaches. By going down this path you also do not compromise your insurance. If you wish to pack yourself, we can supply sufficient packing materials. Owner packed or PBO (Packed By Owner) is quite acceptable, but we recommend you follow a few simple rules:

  • Books and other heavy items should only be packed in sturdy cartons, approximately the same size as archive cartons (30cm x 30cm x 45cm)

  • Tea chest size cartons for the majority of other items. Spread the weight and fill the carton to the top even if crushed paper is used to top up the carton. This will ensure the carton will not collapse.

  • Do I need insurance?
Insurance in any form, whether you are insuring your car or house is pursued to give you peace of mind. Central Victoria Removals suggest you consider extending this for any additional accidental damage, contact our office for extremely competitive rates for transit or storage cover. Our first aim is to ensure your relocation proceeds without any problems, but as in varying situations, accidents can happen.
