  1. Extent of Protection - Subject to payment of the appropriate premium(s) as detailed in the Application and to these Insurance Provisions Central Victoria Removals agrees to protect the customer for (or at its optional make good) any loss or damage to the Customer's property whilst in transit or in storage pursuant to the contract caused by fire, explosion, earthquake, lightning, storm, tempest, flood, water, accident, impact, malicious act, riot, strike, burglary, theft or non-delivery including loading and unloading.
  2. Basis of Loss Settlement -

    1. Personal Property up to 15 years old: Reinstatement/Replacement Value
    2. Personal Property over 15 years old: Indemnity Value
    3. Clothing: Indemnity Value irrespective of age
  3. Deductible - The Customer will pay the first $100 on any claim lodged or as elected by the Customer and detailed on the Application Form.
  4. Full Value. The total current market value or total replacement value (depending whether you have selected indemnity or replacement cover) of the property must be declared. If the insured property is undervalued by more than 20% any claim may be treated on the basis of average, whereby any payment is adjusted in the same proportion as the declared value bears to the actual value of the goods.
  5. Exclusions - The following occurrences are excluded from this protection:
    1. Loss of or damage to articles or contents of articles which have not been packed by Central Victoria Removals Pty Ltd or its official representative;
    2. Loss of or damage to animals, pets, food, drink, perishables, plants, shrubs, plant pots, vehicles, boats and trailers;
    3. Loss of or damage to any antique, curio, piece of jewellery, plate, precious object, work of art, medal, money, coin, stamp, packed carton, collection of items, fur or piece of precision equipment whose value in any case exceeds $400 unless specifically declared in the Application Form;
    4. Corrosion, contamination, deterioration, decay, infestation, mouldiness and electrical or mechanical derangement, unless resulting from physical loss or damage of the insured property;
    5. Wear, tear, depreciation and loss or damage caused by or resulting from inherent vice, brittleness or nature of the insured property;
    6. Consequential loss or damage, loss of profits and loss of market or loss of use of any property; and
    7. Loss or damage arising from armed conflict, radiation or nuclear explosion.
  1. Limitations - In the event of loss or damage of any article or articles in a collection, pair, set, suite, or other combination or any article or articles with family, sentimental or prestigious connotations (including heirlooms, photographs and prizes), Central Victoria Removals will pay the Customer the value of the particular article or articles lost or damaged notwithstanding any special value which such article or articles may have as part or any such combination or because of any such connotations.
  2. Effect on Contract. Whilst these Protection Provisions are in force, the General Conditions of Removal and Storage are deemed to be abrogated or modified to the extent necessary for these Protection Provisions to be effective. However nothing in the Protection Provisions shall reduce or restrict the Customer's statutory rights in relation to the loss or damage of any goods during removals or storage under the contract.
  3. Claims.
    1. Examine your consignment on delivery and note any items which may be subject to claim. Claims must be notified to the nearest branch of Central Victoria Removals within two working days after the date of delivery (or, in the case of loss, the date upon which the goods would ordinarily have been delivered) either in writing or verbally. Any such verbal notification must be confirmed in writing within the following seven days.
    2. The written claim or confirmation should include as much information as is known in regard to the nature and extent of loss or damage, the value of items and the cost of repairs.
